Fashion North
Fashion North is a fashion journalism brand ran by Meg, Tyler and other University of Sunderland Fashion Students. Meg and Tyler were both very fun people to work with and made this project such an enjoyable one. Collaborating with Creo Comms, we gave Fashion North a fresh coat of paint.
The problem
So...these guys haven't rebranded in 7 years, so their old logo was looking a lil bit like a 2016 lifestyle youtube (yknow...the ones we used to watch as kids). These are Meg's words not mine by the way , that sounded rude as hell XD. But in all seriousness, yeah these guys wanted a rebrand, and to target their fashion journalism at a more mature young audience.
Fashion North's core values
Inclusivity
No stereotypical 'girly' pinks. Fashion is for everyone, regardless of their gender, sexuality or race.
Quirky
Different. They don't want Fashion North to blend in. Fashion North needs to have a unique identity.
Mature
Young yet socially aware adults is the target, looking for professional opinions and journalism.
Moodboard
Meg send me over this very handy mood-board that she put together. This REALLLLLLY helped . This gave me a really good idea as to what aesthetics the guys at Fashion North like.
Earlier logo design concepts
There was quite a few initial design we went through, some were close but non of them were quite what they were looking for unfortunately. Alas, every iteration we got closer and closer to a logo that felt right for Fashion North!

Verdict
Thats a wrap guys! Meg and the Fashion North gang absolutely love their new identity. They now look a lot more mature yet more professional. This was a fantastic project to work on and I hope I can work with them again in the near future.
What I learned/improved on
-
being confident with a few options rather than giving them a large number of logos/identities
-
Got a much keener eye for fonts now
-
improved my confidence in a business environment
-
using adjustment layers to find colours can lead to some great results
